You write stuff about people you don't know and will never meet. You read about their lives and you think of Really Interesting questions to ask them. You speak to them. You phone them in Zurich or Amsterdam or New Orleans.
But then a friend is online and you're too busy to chat because you're doing all these interesting things, with all these interesting strangers.
The saddest kind of funny, because too soon it all ends.

I think friends want you to have interesting experiences... as long as you tell them about the experiences later.
Too right, Miss Boh. I was actually writing in the second person about a third person and probably giving the impression I was talking about the first person. (I fucking love second person present tense).
In case you are interested, I almost always share my interesting stuff with a childlike enthusiasm. At 3am I was probably lamenting the fading of a friendship.
But there is new stuff. There is always new stuff.
It's sad when friendships fade away...so exciting when they regain colour as some do at times. Time and distance, I guess.
It is sad, Kat, but I think the best thing to do is think of the irritating times and it's a LOT easier to deal with. You almost start thinking thank God that one is over.
