"Earthquake In Antarctic, Penguins Affected."

Saw the above headline on MSN. Clicked on it because, you know, it's penguins. The story basically said that the earthquake was so remote and so deep under the Earth's frozen surface that no humans would have felt it. An expert (in remote and deep subterranean earthquakes, I suppose) went on to explain, "It probably just frightened a few penguins."

There should be more headline humour like this in more mainstream media.

I dream of humour in the news!

Did you ever see that ABC doco with Albert Ross and all the penguins?

"War in Middle East, Suburban Chicagoans irrated with the price of Gas"

Sub-headline: Local Citgo goes out of business-"everybody's riding their bikes these days," says owner.

Wait. That doesn't work. That's close to truth.

"Airport patrons subjected to strip searches, several wonder "George who?'" or "Constitution? What's that?"

No. That doesn't work either.

I don't know. I can't compete. I've always been lousy with titles, extends to headlines.

No GG, haven't seen that one. Something was just advertised about Meerkats though, and those littlwe buggers are almost as cool as penguins.
